The exhibition ‘The Shape of Infinity’ is a key
to entering modern and contemporary art,
discovering its fundamental intention:
to make visible that infinity is hiding
behind the first appearance of things
and that in the human heart lives an immense desire for infinity,
or a bitter sorrow if it is considered unobtainable.
To what kind of infinity does man aspire?
To a truth without shadows and secrets.
To a good that never disappoints.
To a beauty that never fades.
To loves and bonds that overcome death.
To a fullness of being and life that transcends fleeting things.
The tension towards all this is the cause of evolution, the inspiration of all art and the inquietude of those who do not surrender to a sated and desperate life.
Art gives form to this enchanting and mysterious tension,
representing intuitions, enigmas,
passions, searches, expectations, prayers,
revelations or, if matter seems the only possible reality,
the perception of a finiteness with no prospects.
The challenge of all art – especially in the modern and contemporary age –
is to remind us that we are a huge demand for infinity.
In the exhibition “The Shape of Infinity”,
lines, colours and materials have the power to make us experience it.
A journey of one hundred years of beauty, from figurative to abstract,
in the mystical atmosphere of the rooms of Casa Cavazzini,
in privileged contact with breathtaking masterpieces
by the greatest artistic geniuses of the last two centuries.
